The Table Is Ministry Too 🍽️
There’s something sacred about a shared meal. Not just the food, but the fellowship. The laughter. The stories. The way burdens lighten when passed around with the bread (or chips) basket. In our fast-paced world, we sometimes forget that sitting down together is one of the most powerful ministries we have.
The early church didn’t just preach and pray — they ate together. Regularly. Joyfully. And it wasn’t just about filling stomachs; it was about filling hearts. “And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart.” — Acts 2:46
That’s the kind of church I want to be part of. One where we’re not just pew neighbors on Sunday, but tablemates throughout the week. Where casseroles and coffee become conduits of grace. Where we “do life together” — not just in theory, but in practice.
Jesus Himself modeled this. He didn’t just teach from the mountaintop — He reclined at tables. He broke bread with sinners, saints, and seekers. He knew that fellowship feeds the soul. “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” — Psalm 133:1
So let’s not underestimate the power of a potluck. Let’s lean into the ministry of meals. Invite someone over. Say yes to that lunch after service. Share your table, your time, your testimony. Because when we break bread together, we build something eternal.
Let’s be a church that eats with gladness and lives with unity. The table is open — pull up a chair.
