This Sunday is Wristband & Prayer Sunday, and I hope everyone will participate.
One of the great blessings of a local church is that we are more than people who simply sit together on Sunday mornings. We are a church family. The Bible teaches us to “bear ye one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2) and to pray for one another (James 5:16). That is difficult to do if we do not know one another.
The wristbands help us connect names with faces and encourage conversations that might not otherwise happen. They remind us that every person who walks through our doors matters and has a place in our church family.
Just as importantly, Prayer Sunday reminds us that ministry happens between the Sundays. While worshiping together each week is vital, God calls us to care for one another throughout the week. When we know each other’s names, needs, struggles, and victories, we can pray more specifically and encourage one another more faithfully.
My prayer is that this Sunday will strengthen the fellowship in our church, help us get to know someone new, and inspire us to pray regularly for one another. A healthy church is not built merely by attending services. Believers build it by knowing each other, loving each other, and faithfully lifting one another up before the Lord.
Let’s be intentional this Sunday. Introduce yourself to someone you do not know. Learn a name. Share a prayer request. And then continue praying throughout the week.
Together, let’s be the church between the Sundays.
