Pray, Connect, Grow — It’s All Happening This Week at HVC

You know, one of the simplest things we can do as a church is learn each other’s names. It sounds almost too basic to say out loud, but the truth is — when you know somebody’s name, you’re saying you matter to me. The Bible puts it plain in John 10:3, where Jesus says of the Good Shepherd, “he calleth his own sheep by name.” That’s not just a warm thought — that’s a picture of how God designed community to work. Personal. Close. Known.
That’s why this Sunday we’re doing something old-fashioned and wonderful — Name Tag Sunday. We’re going to wear our names, introduce ourselves to somebody new, and just make it a little easier to belong here. Proverbs 18:24 says, “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly.” Friendship doesn’t happen by accident. It takes a little effort, a handshake, a smile, a “Hey, I’m glad you’re here.” We’re not meant to sit next to strangers every week and call it church. We’re meant to know each other.
So grab a name tag this Sunday, write your name big enough to read, and go talk to somebody you don’t know yet. Ask where they’re from. Ask how long they’ve been coming. You might be surprised how fast a stranger becomes a brother or a sister. That’s the body of Christ doing what it was made to do.

Join us this Sunday at 9:30 AM for Sunday School! We offer classes for all ages and stages, including children, teens, adults, and seniors. Grow in faith, fellowship, and understanding. Find your place in a group and feel right at home.
