Life Between the Sundays: The Family of God
John wrote in 1 John 3:1, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.” Let that truth settle deep this week. You don’t just attend church here; you are a child of the living God, and every brother and sister in these seats shares that same bloodline, bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. The church is a family, and this family life is lived out Monday through Saturday just as much as it is on Sunday morning.
Romans 12:10 says plainly, “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.” Between the Sundays, do you know the names of the people who eat supper alone? Are you carrying the burden of the young parent who is barely keeping things together? Loving one another means showing up when it is inconvenient and choosing your brother’s need above your own comfort.
So let’s live as people who truly believe what we confess. Let the warmth of fellowship spill out of the sanctuary and into the living room, the front porch, the phone call made on a Tuesday for no reason other than love. One day, we will worship around the throne of God together for all eternity. Until then, let us practice right here.
Sunday morning, we’ll be taking communion together as a church family. Before you get here, take a few quiet moments to examine your heart, confess anything that needs to be made right, and thank God for what Jesus did on the cross. As always, the Lord’s Table is open to everyone who has put their faith in Christ. We look forward to sharing this special time of remembrance with you.
Join us this Sunday at 9:30 AM for Sunday School! We offer classes for all ages and stages, including children, teens, adults, and seniors. Grow in faith, fellowship, and understanding. Find your place in a group and feel right at home.
