Pray, Connect, Grow — It’s All Happening This Week at HV

Last week at Hardin Valley Church

What a joy it was to celebrate four families during our lively Parent-Child Dedication service! The Hayleys, Duvalls, Wauscheks, and Gahagans stood before the Lord and this congregation, committing to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Let’s hold these families up in prayer and come alongside them as they walk out that calling together.

We hope to have the new unit for the auditorium installed soon. Many have wanted to help with this added expense. You can give to this project as you regularly give, just indicate HVAC on the memo line with the extra amount.

Just steps from our front door sits The Lantern at Morning Pointe (2449 Reagan Road, Knoxville, TN 37931), and we believe that’s no accident. God has placed a mission field right in our backyard, and we have the privilege of walking through those doors and bringing the love of Christ to some of the most precious and often overlooked members of our community. The residents there may not always remember names or faces, but the presence of the Holy Spirit is something the soul never forgets. As the Psalmist wrote, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken” (Psalm 37:25). What a testimony we can be — that the righteous do not forget them either.

If you are looking for a place to pour out your heart in service, this is a beautiful one. You don’t need special training or a particular gift. You just need a willing spirit and a little bit of time. A song sung, a hand held, a familiar scripture spoken over someone can mean more than you know. James 1:27 reminds us that “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction.” These dear ones are our neighbors, and this ministry is one of the most tender and rewarding ways we can live out our faith together as a church family.
