Why Does The Resurrection of Jesus Matter?

John 20:1–16

Shame Scared Sorrow Suicide Salvation Sin

1. The Resurrection offers answers for doubters. *

Matthew 28:17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

Jude 22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:

2. The Resurrection offers hope for grievers.

1 Thessalonians 4:13–18

3. The Resurrection offers forgiveness for sinners.

Acts 5:30–31 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. 31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

3 Components of Forgiveness

New Hope

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

1 Corinthians 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

New Life

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

New Destiny

1 Corinthians 15:13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: Philippians 3:11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
