Everyone Needs a Friend Like Nathan

When we don't deal with sin in our lives, we invite family disaster, personal shame, and spiritual judgment.

What Does it Look Like When a Person Doesn't Deal with Sin?

    1. You are under Constant Conviction

    Psalms 32
3 When I kept silence, my bones waxed old Through my roaring all the day long.

4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: My moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

    No Joy
    No Peace
    No Fellowship

    Sleepless nights
    Phsical Illness
    Fever
    Loss of Weight

    Haunted Memories
And Worst of All: the feeling of being so terribly alone

    2. You are going to experience an Emotional Confrontation

    Kinds of Confrontation

    1. Public Humiliation
    2. Private Rebuke
    3. Piercing Judgment of God

The best friend you have will tell you when you are wrong, and try to get you to stop your sin. - RH

    3. You can have a broken Confession

    Psalms 51
1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness:

According unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: And my sin is ever before me.

4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, And done this evil in thy sight...

David was Not sorry he was caught, sorry for His sin

Part of repentance is confessing accurately

    1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

    4. You Will Always Suffer Heartbreaking Consequences

    Death of a child
    Sexual Sin begetting sexual sin
    Violence in the family
    Division in the family

    5. You can experience a Glorious Cleansing

    Psalms 51
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; That the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9 Hide thy face from my sins, And blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me.

11 Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy holy spirit from me.

12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with thy free spirit.
